Gehraiyaan Movie Review -Directed by Shakun Batra, Gehrayiaan is yet another thought-provoking film that is a story based upon the amalgamation of relationship complications, dealing with the past sufferings, friendships, and buried down secrets. Batra has again tried to deliver a pastel and light film endowed with sheer simplicity, but concerned with the portrayal of deeper subjects prevalent in society. The film is like a captivating novel whose end you could probably never reach without flipping over to the last page of the book. The story flows like a swift ride, slowly and steadily unfolding every secret and bumper during its course of ride, keeping the audience completely engrossed with the storyline.
Gehraiyaan Story – Deepika Padukone Movie @2022
The cast of Gehrayiaan includes Deepika Padukone as Alisha, a yoga instructor who has kick-started her career by building an app that can help people in the correction of their yoga postures, Siddhanth Chaturvedi as Zain Oberoi, a cool young real estate manager, Dhairya Karwa as Karan Arora who is a struggling writer and Ananya Pandey as Tia Alisha’s cousin and Karan’s old buddy.
The life of these four people turn totally upside down and take up an unexpected turn when they all meet up at a swank yacht. The film is a story for young hearts who all are ready to understand and witness the journey of relationships, how they break, amend our conflicted struggles, unsettled childhood traumas which still continue to haunt us in the most unexpected moments of our lives, and how love demands an unreturned stake and leads us to a path of grief and despair.
The Bollywood industry has always been restricted from coming out and talking about such sensitive issues. The Indian cinema is always considered to be a rigid cinema that ignites patriotism, dives us in romance, makes our hearts throb in anticipation and mystery of the next move of the protagonist but at times fails to acknowledge the actual unresolved sufferings of our life. Batra has always been known for delivering films which are PASTEL YET POIGNANT.

He is renowned for films like Jaane Tu Jaane Na, Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, Kapoor and Sons, etc. which are all light-hearted but never fail to convey strong emotions. The film has cumulated mixed reactions amongst the audience. Some people have showered it with all praises and have appreciated a slightly unconventional theme which, although it may be controversial but still has been presented in its best form to portray raw sentiments. Some people have even criticized the film, saying that it is a completely messed up plot that is trying to glorify the wrong subjects.
Dharma productions’ official Instagram page took on and posted a negative review about the film, quoting”#Gehraiyaan are the ones in my brain because of all the brain damage the movie gave me.” After this, it soon fuelled up in a hilarious meme fest and sparked up the reactions from all over India.
Many directors like Imtiaz Ali and Shoojit Sircar are also amongst the class of directors who have produced some of the finest pieces of Indian cinema enriched with the integrity of real-life like Jab We Met, October, PIKU, Highway, etc. but Shakun Batra has definitely put forward his best to depict the rawness of emotions, and therefore he stands out alone in the queue.
