Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation against Ukraine on Thursday, 24th of February, claiming that the operation is directed towards their aim to protect the civilians and it is a response against the continuous threats given by Ukraine. In succession with the announcement made by the Russian President thousands of Indian students studying in Ukraine, especially in the disciple of medicine are under the condition of discomposure and fear requesting the Indian government authorities for their safe return back to India. Soon after the announcement done by Russia, the hearts of the parents of around 20,000 Indian students are racing in agitation as to what may happen next and how the safety of their children can be ensured in the war zone.
Indian Students Stuck In Ukraine
Recently, it was reported that nearly 400 Indian students in the province of Sumy in Ukraine have taken hidden shelters in the basement after the news came out of the invasion of Russia in the country. They are pleading and seeking help from the Indian agencies for the evacuation as soon as it may be possible.
According to the statistics from the Ministry of Education and Science, in Ukraine, about 18,095 students are pursuing higher education which hails from India. Every year a large number of students from the state of Punjab, Haryana, and other regions from India move to Ukraine to pursue the MBBS course. There are likely two main reasons for it, one that in contrast with India there is less fierce competition in Ukraine for the medical seats and secondly that medical education in India is extremely expensive, therefore more people opt-out and prefer to go abroad for their studies.

It has been reported that the Ukrainian airspace has been completely shut off pertaining to the potential risks and hazards of flight safety.
The Ukrainian government has declared an emergency and imposed martial law, following which no buses, no cars, no private vehicles are allowed to travel on their own. The students have also claimed that even the necessary services of ATMs and supermarkets have been stranded.
Several videos and posts are circulating on the social media platforms from the Indian students stuck in Ukraine seeking help from the Indian government.
A student named Praveen Ajjaraddii from the state of Karnataka posted a video online telling about the worsening conditions there. The students are facing an acute shortage of food and water resources amidst the continuous military operations being carried out.
Soon after Putin declared invasion in Ukraine, the Bollywood actor Sonu Sood also came forward and took on Twitter requesting the Indian Embassy in Ukraine to look out for an alternate way to bring back Indian students with safety.

Indian in Ukraine evacuation
The Air India special flight which was scheduled to bring back another batch of Indians had to turn back away due to shutting down of the airspace. The Indian Foreign Secretary Mr. Harshvandhan Shringla during press conference has assured all Indian citizens and the students struck up between the escalating war conditions that the government will make all the possible steps to bring them back safe and sound, securing utmost safety.
