The Union health minister has confirmed that there were no deaths reported in the states due to the lack of oxygen in the hospital.
The junior health minister, Bharati Praveen Pawar said in the Rajya Sabha that there have been no deaths reported due to oxygen shortage in the states and union territories.
The situation stands contradictory to the fact that the health minister, Bharati Praveen Pawar did mention the critical need for oxygen during the 2nd covid19 wave.
In Tirupati and Andhra Pradesh, 11 covid-19 patients died passed away due to a shortage of oxygen in the hospital. In goa, About 80 people died due to a shortage of oxygen in the hospital. In Hyderabad, 2 patients passed away due to 2 hour cut in the supply of Oxygen.
After the center has blatantly declared that there were no covid-19 patients deaths due to oxygen shortage, other states have begun to own up for the same.
The Health Minister of Chhattisgarh, TS Singh Deo has stated that they have Oxygen stocked and the state has not reported deaths due to shortage of oxygen during the 2nd wave. Tamil Nadu’s Health secretory, J RadhaKrishna ensured that they have enough oxygen in both government and private hospitals and there are no deaths reported due to lack of Oxygen. Bihar and Madhya Pradesh too came forward and asserted that there were no deaths reported due to a shortage of oxygen.
The leader of BJP, Sambit Patra said that the government of Delhi claimed to the high court that there is no verification to suggest that there was no death reported due to a shortage of oxygen.
Rahul Gandhi, Opposition party leader also tweeted that there is not just a shortage of oxygen but also a lack of sensitivity and truth.
