Why mental health is important ?
The increasing number of patients suffering from chronic depression, panic attacks, prolonged anxiety & many other mental disorders is very alarming. If people do not become vigilant & serious about protecting their mental health, then soon it will be a very common ailment that every other person will suffer from throughout the world.
In this article, we will provide you with different lifestyle tips & dietary recommendations that you can follow to keep your mental health in the best state possible. For more insight on this please read Part 1 of this article.
Here are a few
Tips to help you maintain a healthy mind:
1. Devour your favorite chocolate
Yes, I know you must be thinking that this cannot get any better. I mean, we are starting with the best thing anybody can eat in the world – Chocolates. You can consume dark chocolates in moderation every day.
Make sure you are more inclined to dark chocolates rather than white chocolates or milk chocolates as all the benefits are hidden in that cocoa & white or milk chocolates do not have a good percentage of cocoa in them. Have chocolates with 85% or more cocoa content in them for the best results.
Dark chocolate has many beneficial compounds that can help elevate your mood & make you feel better like flavonoids, theobromine, N-acylethanolamine & various other components that can promote increased blood flow, reduce inflammation & boost focus, improve memory & improve overall brain functioning.
3. Keep your Phone a side
Comparison with others can make us feel jealous, sad, envious & depressed. This is human nature that when we find ourselves tired, shattered & all worked up due to daily responsibilities & see other people enjoying the best time of their lives, we feel disheartened & broken.
It can make you feel that you are the only one suffering but this is not at all true. Every single person out there is hustling & struggling to meet expectations, it is just that the good food, luxurious vacation pictures, lavish clothes make it to their Instagram feed that makes you feel less.
Social media can be overwhelming even if you don’t have a comparison problem. All the trolls & comments on your pictures can feel heavy sometimes. There’s serious online bullying that can possibly take a serious toll on mental health.
So, drop your phone down for once & try to limit social media usage for a maximum of 1-2 hours a day. This will keep you sane & healthy.
3. take full tight sleep
Sleep! Sleep! Sleep! I know you need to complete watching the entire season of the latest web-series on Netflix but do you realize it is already 3 am! Now, you will complain that you are feeling drained out & stressed the next day at work & blame everything on your boss or the coronavirus.
Have an adequate amount of sleep throughout the day. You should take at least 8 hours of peaceful, undisturbed sleep at a stretch. Your body won’t be able to metabolize the carbohydrate for producing energy in the body when you lack sleep.
Sleeping refreshes your mind & helps the body work faster & better afterward. Do not skip sleeping for anything.
That’s all for now. Hope this has helped you. For more information, please wait for Part 3 to drop & do not forget to read Part 1.
